The next phase of my photography | Pentax 645nii Medium Format film camera

I have been shooting my Nikon F100 35mm film camera long side my DSLR’s for work as a base for color correction and skin tone. It has been fun doing film photography for the last year or so. I have decided to increase the percentage of film photography in my workflow, and with that jump right into medium format. I was deciding between 3 systems: Contax, Pentax, and Mamiya. In the end, the Pentax 645 system won me over because of the reliability, availability, and affordability. I ended up with a Pentax 645nii, a pentax FA 75mm f2.8, a Pentax 67 105mm f2.4, and a Fotodiox Pro Lens Mount Adapter Pentax 67 to 645.

I’m still waiting for my film scans to come back, but so far I’m happy with the setup.  The camera is easy to use and the auto focus system is really good for a medium format film camera.  It’s not as fast as my DSLR’s but it is faster than other medium format film cameras I’ve used before.   Manual focus is easy with both visual and audible indicators.  The big bright viewfinder helps to see things clearly so manual focus is a breeze.

Here’s a photo of my setup.  Check back soon to see actual photos produced by the Pentax 645nii and the 67 105mm f2.4.
