A Yosemite National Park Engagement Session During COVID-19| James Tang Photography

COVID-19 has changed the world and how we conduct business and the wedding industry is no exception. I love meeting clients face-to-face but it’s now standard for me to communicate over emails and phone calls. I love emails but voice calls not so much. It’s mainly because it’s a lot easier for me to reference back through emails than trying to remember information from a call or write down notes.

Marissa reached out to me for information before booking her dream wedding venue, Skypark Weddings. Through our email exchanges, I also found out that Marissa and Jesse are also outdoor enthusiasts. She also recently visited her brother in Alaska hiking through some of the most beautiful places in North America including Denali National Park. It is on my bucket list!! Jesse is a talented musician. He works on numerous well known favorite TV shows that have been around for decades. After numerous emails, we decided that Yosemite would be the place for Marissa and Jesse’s engagement photography session. This was before the pandemic lock down.

There’s a whole new reservation system just to get into Yosemite National Park during a pandemic. Luckily Marissa and her awesome roommate, Joy, were able to get 2 reservations. I totally missed my alarm to wake up at 7am to get a spot. We met for the first time in person outside of the park and then caravan in. The park wasn’t crowded especially during Summer partly because the reservation system was designed to reduce the number of visitors to the park. I got to spend a relaxed day with Marissa, Jesse, Joy, and their adorable pup, Kodi, exploring places throughout the park. The weather was a bit warm in the afternoon but got cooler as we get to higher elevation. We ended the day at Glacier Point for a beautiful sunset.

I love Yosemite National Park and I’m still at awe with the incredible scenery no matter how many times I’ve visited the place. It’s always a plus to be able to share this special place with my clients. Below are some of the favorite photos from Marissa and Jesse’s engagement photography session at Yosemite National Park.
